This is a research proposal about the effect that the primary school teachers have on cognitive development of children. The purpose of this research is to depict various ways that primary school teachers can enhance cognitive progress among children. Cognitive development refers to the capability of children to think and reason. This applies to children of ages 6 to 12 years whereby teachers play a significant role of ensuring that they are able to progress and reason in concrete ways (Abbey, 2000).Research Paper on Children Cognitive Development

What the Research Could Do

This procedure that incorporate cognitive development among children are carried out in availability of objects and events that revolve around them. In children, adolescent reveals the beginning of their growth which incorporates more complex reasoning stages. This research will exhibit the effect of teachers when they impart cognitive development among children by aiding them to reason from known principles.

Methodology

This is a logical step by step procedure for conducting the study. This will incorporate observation and use of interview (Flavell, 2007). During observation, my team and I will check on the photograph that majority of children choose as their favorite teacher. We will interview them, assess the effects that the teacher has contributed in their cognitive development and take notes to aid in this report.

Research Approach

In this study, I will use a qualitative approach to provide an understanding of underlying opinions, reasons and motivations. This is an approach that offers insight into an issue and aid to provide ideas and hypothesis to enhance potential quantitative research. The key characteristics of this approach will be to examine reasons for decision making (Loeb, 2005). For instance, this report will reveal the effective measures that teachers take to ensure that they contribute to cognitive growth among children. Another characteristic of qualitative approach is that it has a strong basis that enhances understanding in fields that involve education majors. It is also clear that a qualitative researcher holds an understanding of a situation by exploring the totality of the event. In this approach, researchers will focus on small samples which may be conducted by similar or related research centers.

Data Collection

The kind of data that will be collected in this research will mainly be based on the effect of primary school teachers in children’s cognitive growth. This will determine if;

• If the relationships between teachers and students are of importance and whether they are connected to the speed which children embrace to handle issues. This measures the powerful personal links that teachers have with their students.

Data Analysis

This will exhibit how the experiments promote intuitions, support and keep the children secure. This research will prove the effect of how teachers relate with children to enhance their cognitive growth. For instance, the study will show the impact of supportive relationships to children and its consequences.

Tools

To collect this data effectively, the following tools will apply in this research. They include photographs of all teachers and computers. Children will then be expected to analyze their teacher’s photos and reveal the close relationship they have with them. These photographs will run across the screens of each student and its effect will proof whether the children have a close and perfect relationship with their teachers.

This study protocol or data collection procedure will take place at the school computer laboratory. It will incorporate children of age 6-12 years and its duration will take 24 hours (Spodek, 1993). The qualitative data will be coded, recorded and transcribed via use of a cam recorder.  The research protocol that I will use to collect quantitative data is to include details such as the height of children in the study. In this respect, I will give the report using tools such as height measures to reveal the height of each participant.

The description of how this data interpretation and analysis will make sense is by displaying the correlation by contrasting the view of children from the same class. These incorporate specific ideas that revolve around the children and teacher relationship. As a result, it will also help readers to realize if teachers have long lasting relationship with children and it how this positively contributes to their cognitive development.  The manner in which I will interpret the research report is to foster individuals to understand that children require plenty of time to feel that they are connected personally. I intend to illustrate this data by use of PowerPoint presentation to reach everyone’s attention. In this regard, I will show my fellow students how the positive effect the teacher imparts on children promote their cognitive development in a positive manner (Goswami, 2007).
